Galveston Island is a seafood lover’s paradise all year round, but this September, Yaga’s Entertainment will bring foodies a little taste of heaven at the Galveston Island Shrimp Festival.
Featuring some of the best shrimp gumbo the Gulf Coast has to offer, the cook-off will be held in the Historic Strand District beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
This event will also feature the Shrimp Scamper 5k Fun Run, Ron Hoover Boat Show, vendor exhibits, the Lil’ Shrimps Parade, and live music! Click here to view the full festival schedule.
Visitors to the festival will be able to purchase a Gumbo Stroll ticket in advance for a limited time only. This ticket will sell out! This ticket will allow guests to sample gumbo from cook-off teams comprised of amateurs and professionals.
Professional teams from some of Galveston Island’s famous restaurants will also be selling various dishes for public purchase.
A portion of event proceeds will benefit the Resource and Crisis Center, Justin Hughes Fund, and University of Texas Medical Branch.
